Performers, 1855 by Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Original Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864) Japanese Woodblock Print
Performers, 1855

Comments - Intriguing kabuki scene of a man dancing about beneath a blossoming plum tree, hopping on one foot as he grins at the beauty at right. He wears a brown vest with an unusual design of a large turnip over green pants with circular crests. The woman looks at him with a sad expression, two pink spots rouged on her cheeks, holding an arrow in one hand and a bow in the other. She wears a light blue vest with dandelion motifs over a red kimono patterned with writing and blossoms. An interesting subject with an attractive setting.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 13 3/4" x 19 1/2"

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Two separate panels. Stitching holes at one side of each panel, thinning at edges, a few small wormholes, repaired. Slight soiling, a few creases, rubbing at edges. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
