Original Hiroshige (1797 - 1858) Japanese Woodblock Print
View of the Cavern at Enoshima Island, 1843 - 1847

Comments - Striking image of beauties visiting the cavern at Enoshima Island. At left, a woman stands on a mat spread with a picnic, smiling at her companion in the center, who fishes at the edge of the rocky formation. At right, two women wear matching kimono and carry walking sticks, one smiling shyly and holding her sleeve to her chin as she watches a young boy climbing onto the rocks from the water. Waves crash against the rocks and the rugged formations provide a striking natural setting, with the snow-capped peak of Mt. Fuji rising in the distance. A handsome design with wonderful detail.

Artist - Hiroshige (1797 - 1858)

Image Size - 13 7/8" x 29 1/8"

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Three separate panels. A few small holes and thinning spots, repaired. Slight soiling, very slight rubbing at edges. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
