Attacking a Fortress during the Sino-Japanese War, 1895

Comments - Dramatic scene of the Japanese Imperial Army attacking a Chinese fortress during the Sino-Japanese War. Smoke billows from the stone entrance gate as shots streak across the sky. Two Japanese officers charge ahead in spite of the danger. At right, another soldier has tackled an enemy, gripping him by the back of the neck. A bold composition, nicely detailed with touches of burnishing on the officers' coats and embossing along the edge of the smoke at top center.

Artist - Ginko (active 1874 - 1897)

Image Size - 14 1/4" x 28" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separation panels. Paper remnants on reverse at top and bottom edges from previous mounting. Slight toning and soiling, a few creases. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
