Series; Foreigners Enjoying Themselves

American Woman, 1861 - Great Yokohama-e portrait of an American woman and her son from a series depicting foreigners in Japan. She wears a full striped and a blue blouse or jacket with a ruffled red collar, along with an unusual feathered headdress. With one hand she steadies the leg of her son, who stands on tall stilts beside her. He smiles happily, dressed in a black button front jacket, white pants, and brown shoes. An interesting design, also in the collection of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.

Artist - Yoshitora (active circa 1840 - 1880)

Image Size - 13 3/4" x 9 1/2" + top margin as shown

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Thinning at corner, a couple small losses at top corners, repaired. Slight soiling, a few creases. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
