Matsumoto Koshiro V, 1819

Comments - Handsome kabuki portrait of Matsumoto Koshiro V as a samurai striking a pose in the street. He scowls angrily as he plants his feet apart, reaching for the hilt of his sword. He wears an ocher colored coat over a blue kimono with white stripes around the middle, tied with a yellow obi. His hair is not shaved atop his head in typical samurai fashion, but it is pulled back into a topknot tied with white cord. A nice expressive figure with handsome architectural detail in the building.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 15" x 10 1/8" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. A wormholes, repaired. Slight toning, soiling, and creasing, stain, slight rubbing at edges. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
