Comments - Lovely depiction of a beauty entertaining guests for the New Year holiday. In the center, the hostess pours a cup of spiced sake for a woman holding a shallow red lacquer cup in her outstretched hands. Another visitor sits quietly at left, her hands folded in her lap. Black lacquer trays are set with refreshments, and a beauty carries in an elegant bento box on a tray at right. A niche at left holds three hanging scrolls, with a figure of a mossy-tailed turtle with a jewel on top, resting on a red and black stand. A beautiful image with lovely detail in the colorful clothing, embossing in the white kimono trim, and lacquer in the hair.

Artist - Chikanobu (1838 - 1912)

Image Size - 14" x 27 5/8" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels. Tear at edge, a few holes, repaired. Creasing, slight toning and soiling, a few stains. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
