Evening Stroll, 1847 - 1852

Comments - Charming scene of people enjoying a stroll on a summer night. At right, a beauty hurries across a bridge to join them, carrying a sign or plaque depicting a samurai on horseback and a beauty dancing, surrounded by a lacquer frame. The woman in the center smiles back at her, lifting the edge of her intricately patterned kimono, which features rabbit motifs. She holds a fan with bats flying beneath a full moon. The girl beside her gestures ahead while the man at left pauses with a lantern in hand, frowning unhappily. Cuckoos fly across the night sky above the street. An attractive design, nicely detailed.
