47 Ronin, Act 6: The Ichiriki Teahouse, 1866

Comments - Handsome kabuki portrait of Kawarazaki Kunitaro I as the courtesan Okaru in Act 6 of the "Kanadehon Chushingura," the popular drama about the 47 ronin. She smiles slyly as she looks down, using her hand mirror to try to read a secret message about the vendetta that Yuranosuke is reading. Nice fine line work in the hair, with a blue-violet border featuring the crests of Lord Hangan and Yuranosuke.
