Using a Wooden Beam as a Weapon, 1877

Comments - Dynamic kabuki scene of a man using a wooden beam as a weapon, gripping it with both hands as he looks up, an enraged expression on his face. He wears a striking red and white kimono patterned with a fierce hawk and slanting gray raindrops. The silhouettes of men with what appear to be guns can be seen behind him beneath a red and white flag. Nicely detailed with fine line work in the hair, bokashi shading in the night sky, and burnishing in the black kimono collar.

Artist - Kunichika (1835 - 1900)

Image Size - 13 3/4" x 9 3/8" + top margin as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Backed with paper. Slight soiling and rubbing, a few creases at edges. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
