Series; The Thirty-six Outstanding Poems

Ichikawa Danjuro VIII as Jiraiya and Iwai Kumesaburo III as Koshiji, 1856 - Fantastic image of the actors Iwai Kumesaburo III as the beauty Koshiji and Ichikawa Danjuro VIII as the folk hero samurai Jiraiya. He sneaks up behind her as she sits on the floor, reading a book. He holds his sword overhead, ready to strike. Never looking up from her book, Koshiji casually points a gun behind her back at the warrior, a curl of smoke rising from the fuse of the matchlock. The block across the top carries a poem. An intriguing image with excellent detail in the fabrics and interior furnishings, including embossing in the white kimono collar and a beautiful burnished check pattern in the black kimono.
