Bando Hikosaburo V as Ishikiri Gorota and Iwai Kumesaburo III as Okumi, 1856 - Terrific kabuki scene of the actors Iwai Kumesaburo III and Bando Hikosaburo V in the roles of the koto player Okumi and the commoner Ishikiri Gorokichi. The frightened beauty recoils from her companion as he takes hold of his sword, looking out of the corners of his eyes. She throws one hand out in alarm, the other resting on the koto behind her. Her colorful kimono patterned with maple leaves trails out onto the floor around as she leans back, trying to escape the man's wrath. The inset of grasses above was designed by Gengyo Miyagi. An attractive composition with nice detail in the interior setting.
