Warriors Battling

Series; The New Biography of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, 1883

Warriors Battling - Terrific scene of two warriors battling in a courtyard. The samurai at left lunges forward with his pole arm as his enemy reaches for the weapon, attempting to deflect the blow. His hair flows loose around his head, the wild halo giving him a fierce appearance. A fallen spear lies on the ground nearby, along with broken stones. Through the palace gate at far left, an orange glow spreads along the horizon as the sun sets. A dramatic image with fantastic detail in the armor and expressive faces. Includes touches of burnishing in the armor.

Artist - Toyonobu (1859 - 1886)

Image Size - 13 1/2" x 17 7/8"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Two separate panels. Slight soiling, faint ink offsetting. Please see photos for details. Nice overall.
