Daisho mai: Onoe Eizaburo IV, Iwai Shijaku II, and Kawarazaki Kunitaro I, 1865 - Handsome kabuki print featuring Onoe Eizaburo IV, Iwai Shijaku II, and Kawarazaki Kunitaro I as beauties performing the daisho mai or daisho dance. Dressed as traditional shirabyoshi, they wear tall yellow court caps and wave folding fans, dressed in matching white print vests over red tie-dyed kimono. A charming design, beautifully detailed with delicate embossing on the white vests. The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, has this image in its collection. We've never come across this subject before.
