Beauty in the Snow

Series; A Mirror of the Flowering of Manners and Customs, 1878

Beauty in the Snow - Attractive portrait of a beauty preparing to board a pleasure boat, using a partially closed umbrella as shelter from the falling snow. She wears an olive green kimono trimmed with a purple triangle pattern over a red under robe with a tan collar featuring snow-covered willow branches, a purse wrapped in tissues tucked under her brown brocade obi. A great composition, beautifully detailed with fine light work in the hair and soft shading in the wintry sky. A handsome image from this seldom seen Kunichika beauty series.

Artist - Kunichika (1835 - 1900)

Image Size - 14 1/8" x 9 3/8" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Slight toning and soiling, a few creases. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
