Original Meiji era Japanese Woodblock Print
The Priest Mongaku and Angry Warrior

Comments - Interesting uncut kabuki print featuring two chuban images. The top scene shows the priest Mongaku doing penance under an icy waterfall, assisted by the heavenly attendants Kongara doji at left and Seitaka doji at right. Below, an angry warrior confronts a beauty, throwing his had up in the air as he glares at her. She looks up with a beseeching expression, her long hair falling over her back. A handsome print with expressive figures and vibrant color.
