Comments - Handsome kabuki triptych illustrating the Act III, Scene II, "At Prince Tamaki's Empty Palace" from the play "Oshu Adachi-ga-Hara," a drama about the two Abe brothers who seek avenge the death of their father, Abe no Yoritoki, at the hands of Minamoto no Yoshiie. The two brothers stand in the snow at left, one holding his bow and an arrow. He wears a boldly patterned robe trimmed with fringe over a suit of armor. In the center, the young girl Okimi peers from beneath the sleeve of the other brother, who stretches a banner across his shoulders. At right, Yoshiie sits on a stool atop the palace steps frowning angrily. a tray with a scroll on it in his extended hand. Snow falls heavily through the night sky behind the figures. A lively and colorful image.

Image Size - 13 3/8" x 27 3/4" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels. Slight separation and thinning at ends of vertical fold in each panel, repaired. Slight soiling and rubbing, a few creases. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
