Comments - Bold kabuki scene of a samurai threatening a man wearing a shaggy red wig topped with a fox figurine. At left, the attacker thrusts a short sword at his intended victim, who recoils in alarm. At right, a nobleman looks up with a sober expression, not following the conflict at all. He wears a blue robe patterned with cranes in flight and rings of waves over a red floral and scroll kimono, and a black court cap. At upper left, a blue robe with a design of cranes and pine branches hangs over a lacquer stand. From left, the actors are Ichikawa Danjuro IX, Ichikawa Sadanji I, and Bando Kakitsu. An interesting subject with large colorful figures.
