Monkey Trainer

Comments - Intriguing kabuki portrait of a monkey trainer looks sadly to the side as his monkey clambers on his back. He holds the top of the animal's head with one hand and a striped pole with a hoop atop it in the other. Buildings and trees can be seen in black silhouette against the night sky behind him. An interesting subject with an expressive figure and handsome wood grain impression in the background.

Artist - Kunichika (1835 - 1900)

Image Size - 13 7/8" x 9 5/8" + left margin as shown
