Genji Reflects on the Blossoms at Night, 1861

Comments - Charming scene of Prince Genji's palace on a spring night. A beauty climbs up the stairs to a verandah with a cushion in hand, while in the building at right, a woman carries a basin of water with cups floating in it. A beautiful garden fills the background, with a stone lantern dotting the shore of a lake, the view framed by blossoming cherry trees. An attractive design. Includes a burnished geometric pattern in the black trim of the cushion.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 14 3/8" x 9 3/4" + top margin as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Paper remnants on reverse at top corners from previous mounting. Small loss at edge, a few holes, repaired. Slight soiling and creasing, a few marks. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
