Prince Genji and Young Attendant, 1859

Comments - Charming scene of Prince Genji in a room overlooking a garden, smiling as he dries the side of his neck with a white towel. A young attendant kneels beside him, holding a bowl in her hands. The nobleman wears a geometric pattern kimono in mauve and purple and bordered with blue flowers over a red under robe, tied with a black obi and red tie-dyed sash. A blossoming plum tree frames the view, with a stone water basin and a lantern on the ground next to a garden fence. Nicely detailed with embossing in the white kimono trim.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 14 1/4" x 9 3/4" + left margin as shown

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Small loss at corner, a few holes, repaired. Slight toning and soiling, a few creases, slight rubbing at edges, staining at side. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
