Kawarazaki Gonjuro I as Ushiwaka Denji and Ichikawa Danjuro IV as Kurotegumi no Sukeroku, 1858

Comments - Interesting kabuki scene showing Kawarazaki Gonjuro I as Ushiwaka Denji and Ichikawa Danjuro IV as Kurotegumi no Sukeroku, frowning at each other in an interior. At left, Ushiwaka Denji stares down at his companion with an angry frown as he tucks up the back of his blue plaid kimono. Sukeroku glares back at him with his arms folded firmly over his chest. A paper lantern shade with writing on it and a tobacco set rest on the floor nearby. Signs hang on the wall at left, and pink and white floral curtains hang in the doorway. Nice expressive figures with a detailed setting.
