Original Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864) Japanese Woodblock Print
Spring, 1856

Series; The Four Seasons of Genji

Spring, 1856 - Charming scene of beauties visiting a shrine in spring to view the blossoming cherry trees. In the center, a rather tipsy woman stumbles to the side, laughing and holding a sake cup in her outstretched hand. Her companions are amused by her antics, smiling as they watch her. At right, one beauty carries a shamisen over her shoulder while another holds a small covered wooden pail, a pipe in hand. The edge of a torii gate can be seen at left, with women helping a young girl down the stairs behind. An attractive design with a finely detailed setting.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 14 3/8" x 19 1/2"

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Two separate panels. A couple small losses at edges, a few small holes, repaired. Slight toning and soiling, a few creases and ink marks, slight rubbing at edges, ink notations on reverse. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
