Customs and Manners of Women in Old Japan, 1892 - Charming triptych of a group of elegantly dressed young ladies enjoying a variety of leisure activities, including viewing scrolls and writing. A beauty at left retrieves a bundle of scrolls from an elegant lacquer stand, the young girl next to her carrying a stack of books. At right, an attendant presents a tray of paper to a kneeling woman, another tray with a brush and ink stone ready for writing. In the center, a woman uses a slender pole to help hang a scroll with a painting on it, a lovely floral display on the floor nearby. A wonderful scene with beautiful color and delicate detail. A nice choice for display.
