Comments - Handsome Osaka kabuki triptych depicting Act 3 from the "Kanadehon Chushingura," the drama about the 47 ronin. Kampei and his lover, the beauty Okaru, are confronted by a guard as they leave the rear gate of the palace to elope. At left, the guard frowns at them as he holds his sword upright. He wears a red kimono with a striking pattern of herons or egrets in flight among reeds. Fields stretch out behind them, with the snow-capped peak of Mt. Fuji dominating the horizon. Beautifully detailed with burnishing in Kampei's black kimono.

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three attached panels, backed with paper. Slight separation at ends of folds between panels, repaired. Slight toning and soiling, a few small spots and light stains. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
