Comments - Terrific depiction of women warriors fighting Imperial Army troops at Kagoshima during the Satsuma Rebellion. In the center, a beauty charges ahead on a dappled horse, gripping a naginata with both hands. At left, a beauty wields a sword as she faces several soldiers. At right, a woman with a naginata rushes forward to help her compatriots. Saigo Takamori, the leader of the rebel samurai, watches from astride a brown horse at upper right. An incredible image showing the wives and daughters of samurai who joined the rebellion against the Meiji government.
