Nakamura Shikan IV as Sekibei, 1860

Comments - Great kabuki portrait of Nakamura Shikan IV as the barrier guard Sekibei in the play commonly known as "Seki no To." He wears a rust colored vest over a green kimono, both patterned with large white Genji symbols, a rust cloth wrapped around his head. He leans forward with a tight-lipped frown, his face shadowed in blue from not shaving. Text runs across the top of the page. A large, bold figure.

Image Size - 14 1/8" x 9 5/8" + top margin as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Backed with paper. A few small holes, repaired. Slight soiling, a few creases and small spots, stain at upper left. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
