Dragon: Fujiwara no Hidesato Rescuing the Dragon Princess, 1896 - Fantastic scene of Fujiwara no Hidesato (Tawara Toda) rescuing the beautiful Dragon Princess from an enormous centipede that had menaced her father, the Dragon King, and his domain. The famous archer bravely faced the monster at Seta Bridge. He is shown here standing atop the bridge with his bow and arrows in hand as a bolt of orange lightening zigzags across the night sky. Dressed in elegant robes, the beauty cowers behind him, her sleeve raised above her head, fluttering in the sudden wind. A dramatic illustration of this legendary tale, beautifully colored and detailed.
