Samurai Battles Book with 11 Woodblock Prints, 1868 - Handsome book depicting samurai battles. This complete book includes 9 diptychs and 2 single panels for a total of 11 color woodblock prints. The cover includes a color portrait of a nobleman. The front endpaper is another print showing warriors in silhouette gathered around a bonfire, while the back endpaper features a blue and white print of a cannon and the rooftop of a castle. Scenes range from landscape views of battlefields, preparations for battle, and samurai engaged in close-up combat. Intact stab binding with paper covers. An interesting little volume.
