Series; Famous Views of Edo, 1830s

Eitai Bridge and Reclaimed Land at Futagawa - Terrific Hiroshige triptych of the Eitai Bridge and the reclaimed shoreline at Futagawa in Edo. This wonderful panoramic design shows the arched wooden structure stretching across the bay, crowded with pedestrians and travelers. The entrance to the bridge is lined with small shops and stands and the area is busy with shoppers, vendors, and laborers. Warehouses line the waterfront at right, with fishing boats anchored in the harbor, softly tinted orange clouds streaking across the sky. A fantastic image from this great series of views of Edo by Hiroshige.
