Comments - Handsome kabuki scene of three men in an iris garden. In the center, a yakko or low-ranking servant rests on one knee he brandishes a sword, the end of a young nobleman's sleeve caught between his teeth. The young man smiles back at him as he holds up a letter. At right, a samurai watches the pair with a slightly worried expression while waving a folding fan. The actor in the center is Kataoka Nizaemon VIII. An attractive natural setting with walkways over the water lined with flowering irises.
