Nakamura Shikan IV as a Man about to Commit Suicide, 1867

Comments - Dramatic kabuki portrait of Nakamura Shikan IV as a man about to commit suicide. He grips a short sword wrapped in white cloth in one hand, ready to thrust in into his belly, his blue tie-dyed kimono spread open to bare his torso. He stares at the weapon with a tightlipped frown, steeling himself to face the cut. An expressive figure with fine line work in the hair and soft shading and a dusting of mica across the night sky.

Image Size - 14 1/4" x 9 3/4" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. One small hole, repaired. Slight soiling and creasing. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
