Original Meiji era Japanese Woodblock Print
Sino-Japanese War Attack

Comments - Lively scene from the Sino-Japanese War of Japanese troops mounting an attack on the Chinese. At left, an officer on horseback waves his sword to direct the charge, with a row of soldiers behind him firing guns. At right, other troops man a cannon, clouds of smoke issuing from the barrel. Warships can be seen along the horizon. Nicely detailed, with bokashi shading in the smoke and evening sky.
