Comments - Lovely triptych depicting Prince Genji and beauties visiting a peony garden along the edge of the water. The nobleman stands in the center, wearing a purple print coat over a blue kimono with the same pattern. He grins happily at his sword bearer, who kneels on the ground at left. At right, a princess relaxes on a tortoise shell bamboo bench. She wears a purple kimono patterned with cherry blossoms and small pillows tied with bows over a red under robe, a cluster of blue flowers adorning her hair. Colorful rosy pink and light blue peonies provide an attractive backdrop for the figures. A handsome design with beautiful detail in the elegant fabrics and natural setting, including embossing in the women's white kimono trim.
