Hatakeyama Shigetada

Series; Stories of a Hundred Heroes of High Renown, 1843 - 1844

Hatakeyama Shigetada - Handsome portrait of the Minamoto leader Hatakeyama Shigetada sitting on a small chest covered with an animal skin. He smiles as he looks to the side, a brush in hand and an open book spread across his knees. His chest plate and sashimono or personal standard both feature the paulownia mon or crest of the Minamoto Clan, and he wears a battle helmet topped with a golden yellow rabbit with large ears. Wonderful detail in the carefully drawn armor. A fine subject for a samurai enthusiast.

Image Size - 13 3/4" x 9 5/8"

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Backed with paper. A few wormholes, repaired. Slight toning and soiling, light ink offsetting, a few creases. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
