Publisher - Adachi from a rare series of Edo masterwork designs. Adachi publisher seal in margin or on reverse.

Adachi was one of the most respected publishers of the 20th century. Their woodblocks were printed to the highest standards with excellent color and fine detail. Founded in 1925, Adachi also chose interesting and varied subjects for their prints and was the only publisher of many famous old ukiyo-e images.

Comments - Attractive image of two lovers embracing in a field, with autumn flowers and grasses framing the scene at left. At right, the man's sword rests against a tree trunk, with a flowing river beyond. Printed in black ink, the design is both graphically bold and finely detailed. The strength of the black lines further adds to the beauty of this lovely print. A classic example from the early years of black and white Japanese prints.
