A Party Viewing the Moon across the Sumida River

Comments - Attractive scene of beauties gathered in an upstairs room overlooking the Sumida River for a moon viewing party. At lower left, a beauty fans a brazier, while in the center, a young woman sits on a ledge, one arm wrapped around a wooden pillar. She wears a violet kimono patterned with delicate blossoms that matches those of her companion standing at right. Beyond the verandah, boats glide along the water and a bridge is crowded with pedestrians. A charming design with a nicely detailed setting. We haven't seen this subject in reprint before.

Image Size - 14 7/8" x 9 3/4" + margins as shown
