The Niwaka Festival in the New Yoshiwara, 1840 - 1842 - Handsome view of the annual Niwaka Festival in the New Yoshiwara, with crowds thronging the entrance to the pleasure district. A lion dancer can be seen at right, accompanied by beauties in male dress. Patrons look down from restaurant above, watching the commotion with interest, the eaves lined with red paper lanterns. A nicely detailed subject.

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Vertical centerfold. A few wormholes and small holes, repaired. Slight toning and soiling. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
