Comments - Fantastic triptych of the great warrior Kato Kiyomasa and his men hunting tigers during Japan's conquest of Korea. The samurai face two tigers in a heavily wooded area alongside a rushing river. In the center, Kiyomasa jabs fearlessly with his spear at one of the snarling animals, which claws at the end of his spear. The other tiger bares its fangs, ready to pounce upon their attackers. Two other warriors flank Kiyomasa, one leaning forward as he grips a pine branch overhead and the other holding his spear ready. Other samurai rush forward to assist at left. A terrific composition with a spectacular natural setting, and wonderful detail in the armor and tigers. A great dramatic subject, beautifully rendered and colored. An excellent choice for a collector interested in the samurai tradition.

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three attached panels, backed with paper. A couple small losses at edges, tear, repaired. Slight toning, soiling, and creasing, slight rubbing at edges, paper slightly curled. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
