Ichikawa Kodanji IV in a Summer Kimono, 1865

Comments - Handsome kabuki portrait of the actor Ichikawa Kodanji IV outdoors on a summer evening. He wears a deep blue cotton kimono with a bold white pattern, a red fan in his hand bearing the same motif. He looks up at the night sky with a frown, his brows furrowed. Autumn grasses and flowers in dark silhouette fill the background. An interesting design.

Artist - Kunichika (1835 - 1900)

Image Size - 13 1/4" x 9 1/8" + top margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. A few thinning spots and holes, repaired. Soiling and ink offsetting, slight rubbing, a few creases. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
