Series; Beauties Compared with Scenic Spots of Our Country

Yoshino in Yamato Province, early 1830s - Lovely portrait of a beauty walking through the snow in tall wooden geta clogs, a black hood wrapped around her head against the cold. She wears a blue coat with a black collar over her kimono, an umbrella in her hand. An ornate lantern decorated with colorful beaded tassels frames an aizuri-e or all blue view of Yoshino, the hills dotted with blossoming trees. The title cartouche at upper right is bordered with delicate scrolls, feathery leaves, and small blossoms. A charming design from a rarely seen series, also in the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 14 3/4" x 10 1/8"

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. A few small wormholes, repaired. Slight toning and soiling, slight rubbing and a few light creases at edges. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
