From the Uchida Publisher Archives - We were fortunate to purchase a wonderful collection of 20th century prints directly from the archives of the Uchida Art Company of
Oharame Tanzaku Print - Charming depiction of an Oharame or peasant woman from the village of Ohara near Kyoto. These beauties are known for their distinctive costumes, and can often be seen in the streets of Kyoto selling flowers and firewood. A patterned blue apron is tied over her black kimono, and her head is covered with a white cloth decorated with red maple leaves. Her pile of brushwood rests beside her, and a pale sun glows overhead. A terrific design celebrating this traditional Japanese costume.
Artist - Tokuriki Tomikichiro (1902 - 1999)
Image Size - 14 3/4" x 3 3/8" + margins as shown
Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Light stain and a few small holes at bottom edge, a couple creases at edges. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
