Bando Tamasaburo II as Chihaya, 1860

Comments - Interesting kabuki portrait of Bando Tamasaburo II as Chihaya. She kneels next to a stone water basin with a dipper across it, holding a wooden practice sword in her hand. She looks up with a rather crazed grin, the sleeves of her robe tied back to keep them out of the way. She wears a brown kimono patterned with large white blossoms with yellow centers and swirling. An expressive figure in a nicely detailed setting.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 14 3/8" x 9 5/8" + top margin as shown

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. A couple small holes, thinning at edge, repaired. Slight soiling and creasing. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
