Original Kunichika (1835 - 1900) Japanese Woodblock Print
Hopping Man, 1869

Comments - Interesting kabuki portrait of a man hopping about on one foot, holding a bundle over his back and staring up over his shoulder with a slight frown. He wears a black robe with insets on the sleeves of the takaramono or precious things over a blue and green kimono tucked into yellow and violet striped pants. A small black court cap is tied over a blue cloth wrapped around his head. Behind him, a musician playing shamisen sits on a high platform, and a blossoming plum tree frames a glimpse of the blue sky. Nicely composed and colored.

Artist - Kunichika (1835 - 1900)

Image Size - 14 1/8" x 9 3/8" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. One tiny wormhole, repaired. Slight soiling, a few creases. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
