An especially lovely garden scene

Famous Flowers of Horikiri, Iris of Edo, 1852 - Lovely scene of beauties enjoying the famous iris garden at Horikiri. The woman at right crouches next to the blossoms, pointing out a fine specimen as she looks over her shoulder. Her companion smiles back at her as a girl grins up excitedly at her side. The beauty in the center wears a tan kimono patterned with pink blossoms and green leaves, tied with an orange brocade obi. Many other visitors can be seen strolling through flowers behind them, with flooded fields stretching out into the distance and the sky darkening as evening falls. A beautiful summer subject, wonderfully detailed.
