Courtesan Going to Bed

Series; Ten Types of Beauties in Pictures

Courtesan Going to Bed - Beautiful portrait of a courtesan ready to retire for the evening. She pauses to look back over her shoulder at a young girl who has already fallen asleep while reading, resting her head on her arm. The beauty wears a purple tie-dyed outer robe over a delicately embossed white kimono and red under robe, casually tied with a green obi. The red cushions of her bed are visible at lower right, her hand resting on the edge of the screen providing privacy for her quarters. A lovely Kiyonaga subject, rarely seen in reprint.

Artist - Kiyonaga (1752 - 1815)

Image Size - 14 3/4" x 9 5/8" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Small spot at edge. Please see photos for details. Nice overall.
