Series; Thirty Portraits of Contemporary Actors in Kabuki Plays
Nakamura Tokizo III as Taruya Osen, 1953 - Emotional portrait of Nakamura Tokizo III as Taruya Osen in the kabuki play "Meisaku Kiriko no Akebono." The distraught woman's face crumples with grief, her brows furrowed and her eyes rimmed with red, her disheveled hair adding to her distressed appearance. One sleeve of her olive green floral outer robe has been pushed down to reveal a blue kimono with a colorful tie-dyed pattern and a purple tie-dyed collar. The outer edge of the collar is scribbly line, echoing the agitation of the figure. A very expressive design.
