Fierce Battle at Pyongyang, 1894

Comments - Dramatic depiction of the Battle of Pyongyang during the Sino-Japanese War. At left, an officer on horseback directs troop movements with his sword as soldiers man the cannon in front of him. At right, the Japanese fire a volley of shots at the Chinese, knocking enemies head over heels as their compatriots begin to retreat. Clouds of smoke billow across the battlefield, and a Japanese flag waves proudly at left. Nicely detailed with touches of burnishing on the black uniforms and bokashi shading in the background.

Artist - Toshihide (1863 - 1925)

Image Size - 13 5/8" x 27 7/8" + top margin as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three attached panels, backed with paper. Slight toning and soiling, a few creases, paper slightly curled. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
