Original Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864) Japanese Woodblock Print
Winter Beauty Kakemono, circa 1845

Comments - Handsome kakemono or vertical diptych of a young beauty bundled up against the cold winter weather. A blue hood is wrapped around her head and tied with a blue and white tie-dyed scarf. She wears a short coat patterned with geese in flight over a striped kimono in gray, blue, and brown, her hands tucked beneath her kimono sleeve in an effort to keep warm. Despite the chill, she smiles happily as she looks ahead. A classic Edo era beauty design that would make an attractive display.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 28 3/8" x 9 7/8" + margins as shown

Condition - This print for excellent detail as shown. Two separate panels. Vertical centerfold in top panel. A few small holes and thinning spots, repaired. Slight toning, soiling, and creasing. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
