Series; Index of Favorite Actors Showing Off, circa 1840

Iwai Hanshiro VII - Charming image of a beauty strolling beneath hanging banners featuring the names of donors. She grins happily as she looks back over her shoulder, lifting her robes as she walks along on tall wooden geta clogs. The battledore-shaped inset at upper right features a portrait of kabuki actor Iwai Hanshiro VII as a beauty, possibly a shirabyoshi dancer since she is wearing a man's black court cap. A nicely detailed image from this rarely seen series.
