Genji's Festival of Alluring Flowers, 1862

Comments - Interesting depiction of Prince Genji and his companions enjoying a festival of flowers. The young nobleman relaxes on a bench at a tea stand at right, grinning as he looks over his shoulder. The boy in the center waves a fan excitedly as his young companion pulls a cart holding a festival float which consists of a large wicker vase of peonies, chrysanthemums, and plum blossoms, with splashing waves cascading over the support. At right, a woman gestures to the children as she happily chats with Genji. An attractive design, nicely detailed.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 14 1/4" x 29 7/8" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Three attached panels, backed with paper. A couple tears at edges, repaired. Toning, slight soiling, a few creases at edges, paper slightly curled. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
